Ravens Offense Report Card

Three weeks into the season the Baltimore Ravens are 2-1. Here is a position group by position group breakdown of the good, the bad and the ugly so far.

QB: B+
Player(s): Joe Flacco
Positives:
High completion %
Improved footwork and quicker release
Better accuracy
Negatives:
Locking on to Steve Smith
Slow start against the Bengals
Needs to be better in the red zone

FB: A
Player(s): Kyle Juzyzchyk
Positives:
Blocking well
Play maker catching out of back field.

RB: B+
Player(s): Bernard Peirce, Justin Forsett, Lorenzo Taliaferro
Positives:
Good vision & understanding wide zone blocking system.
Getting yards after contact
Contributing in passing game
Negatives
Ball security
Can improve in pass protection

TE: A
Player(s): Dennis Pitta (Out for Season)
Owen Daniels, Crockett Gillmore
Positives:
Good route running
Great hands
Negatives:
The Ravens don’t have a true blocking tight end. With Hurst starting at Left Tackle, rookie,Crockett Gillmore could very well try to fill this role. Pitta’s injury is also devastating

Wide Receiver C
Player(s): Torrey Smith, Steve Smith, Jacoby Jones, Marlon Brown, Kamir Aiken
Positives:
Steve Smith emerged as Ravens big play guy.
Getting good YAC
Negatives:
Torrey Smith has been not too involved
Way to many dropped passes
Need to improve route running

Offensive Line: B
Player(s): Eugene Monroe, Kelechi Osemele, Jeremy Zuttah, Rick Wagner
Positives:
Firing off the line well
Blocking into second level
Decent pass protection thus far
Negatives:
Several missed assignments or mental errors
Losing too many 1 on 1 battles with rushers
Need to improve in short yardage situations
